Hello team, today is Tuesday May 5th. Today we are going to take a look at the first part of The Core Four; Create Eye Contact. First, we want to focus on why this is so important. When you have eye contact with your guest it makes them feel more connected. This connection shows our guest that they have our full attention. It makes, our guest feel more comfortable and lets them know that we are going to take care of them. If we are constantly looking down or looking around, that gives the guest an impression that something is more important to us then them right now. We always want to make sure our guest feels welcomed and valued. So here are some helpful tips you can try during your shift to help you improve your level of eye contact with your guest.

1. Stop! Look at your guest. When you greet your guest you should be focused on them and only them. (So if you are still helping another guest it is ok to look at and acknowledge your next guest and let them know you will be right with them. Then go back to focusing on the guest you are with.)

2. Slow Down! Its ok to take a few extra seconds to look at your guest. (Do we want you to take orders super fast? Yes! But we also want our guest to feel like they are important and focused on.)

3. Focus! Remind yourself to keep looking up at your guest. (For all you wonderful trainees; practice this now. It will help you in the future.)

After the order is over and your guest has been helped, ask yourself this question; What did my guest look like? Hopefully you can recall their eye color. Why you ask? Because you remembered to Create Eye Contact with your guest! Have a Great Shift!
